The following tests show the superior performance of Insul-Fluf insulation. These tests were carried out involving representatives from the Master Builders Association, University of Canterbury, and the D.S.I.R. Two identical motel units were chosen and Insul-Fluf ceiling insulation was installed in one of these.
During the period of the tests, many hundreds of readings were taken and recorded. These provided much valuable information. For your benefit and interest in the basic advantages of Insul-Fluf insulation, two of the tests are as follows.
TEST ONE – Power Consumption Test
Period
17 Hours.
Object
To determine the difference in the amount of power required to keep the two test buildings at an identical temperature.
Conditions
5.4 Kw of Blue Seal panel heating were used and the thermostats were set to maintain the temperature at 18 degrees.
Results
The uninsulated motel used 64 units of electricity. The insulated motel used 41 units.
Conclusion
A saving of 35.9% on power cost was attributed directly to the Insul-Fluf Ceiling Insulation. Regardless of the original heat source, electric heater, open fire, oil burner, Insul-Fluf will definitely result in considerable savings.
TEST TWO – Temperature Rise Time Test
Period
21 Hours.
Object
To compare the time required to raise the temperature of the motels from cold to 18 degrees.
Conditions
The two motels were left unheated until the temperature dropped to the equal of the outside temperature (6 degrees). All heaters were then switched on without thermostat control.
Results
The uninsulated motel took 2 hours 47 minutes to attain a temperature average of 18 degrees throughout the unit. The time for the insulated unit was only 1 hour 53 minutes.
Conclusion
The uninsulated motel took 47.7% or nearly half as long again to heat up than the motel with Insul-Fluf. This is a tremendous advantage, particularly where all occupants are out during the day and return to a completely cold house in the evenings.
